Special Guests

Well, the 2nd season is drawing to a close. It's had it's ups and down, and definite rough patches. But overall it was GREAT! :)

We had a few special guests this year....woop woop! 

Jim Stafford came to visit us a few times, that was fun. The audiences were HUGE, which is awesome because loud crowds make my job even more fun than it already is!

Matt Gumm also came to perform with us a few times, he is sooo much awesomeness in just one person! 

He has so much energy and gets the crowd really pumped! I love it!

Thom Gumm was gone a for a few weeks this summer and while he was gone we had two people covering for him. 

On Opry nights we had Bill "Goofer" Atterbury, many of you know him from Lee Mace's Ozark Opry.

On Reelin' in the Years nights we had Johnathon Shinkle, he was a part of Main Street for a few years before I got there. 

Special Guests always cause a different dynamic in the show, it's a whole new person to get used to. Some have higher energy, some are very vocal and talk alot, some are very nervous and once they get used to us fit in very well. I always feel a tiny bit sorry for special guests, they have to bring all of their stuff with them, they don't know anyone in the cast, and the only get one shot to impress people. Granted most of them have already impressed people...that's why they are special guests. :)

Now we are almost done with the regular season and we have Christmas rehearsals almost every night after the show, it starts November 9th and it's gonna be loads of fun! So come see us! :)

And So It Begins.....

So, around one year ago, I auditioned for what would potentially be the coolest job I've ever had.

I sang 3 songs, and then I had to sit and listen to everyone else audition, talk about nerve wracking!

At the end of the audition, I was told I would hear from them in the next couple of days.
...I hate waiting.....

I couple days later, I get a call from a number I don't know, but from the area code, I can tell it's from Osage Beach. Now, at the time I was working in a rock quarry, for those of you that have never been in a quarry, it's a giant hole in which there is very little cell service. So I see the number calling, but I can't answer the phone, ugh!

After an excruciating amount of time, I finally had a voicemail come through on my phone, it was Dan, the bandleader! He wanted to meet with me to talk! After a brief meeting with him, and the show owners, I was offered a job!

This all went down in February and the show started in April, so we started rehearsals quickly.

We do 2 shows during the summer, and a Christmas show (obviously around Christmas :) ).
During the summer, we have a "Reelin' In the Years" show, which consists of music from the 60's, 70's and 80's, and our Opry Show, which is more of a variety show with new and old country music with a little 40's and 50's and other popular music thrown in. It's an eclectic show, to say the least. :)


Needless to say, the last year of my life has been one awesome roller coaster ride, and I'm so ridiculously glad to say that I have a job that most little girls want to have when they grow up.
I dress up like a princess (and numerous other people/things), I get to sign autographs, and most importanly to me, I get to sing; one of my favorite things in the world. :)

Now, going into my second season at Main Street Music Hall, I have decided that it might fun to blog about the happenings. This is the beginning, I hope you all enjoy it, and that I can do the experience some justice.
